Professional Experience

Thomas W. Cherry, Jr. joined CBRE in 2009 in the Los Angeles office where he is focused on representing corporate occupiers of real estate in multi-market transactions around the country and internationally. 

Mr. Cherry brings an extensive background in transactional advisory services and execution that aligns with a client’s overall real estate and business strategy.  Mr. Cherry’s decision to join CBRE creates a strong value proposition for corporate users who will benefit from a combination of his expertise and CBRE's comprehensive real estate services platform and local market expertise around the world.

Mr. Cherry advises major corporations, including several Fortune 500 companies, in lease negotiations, renewals and relocations, building acquisitions and dispositions, sale/leasebacks, build-to-suits and financing for both industrial and office properties.  Mr. Cherry also serves as a strategic advisor to his clients as well as several law and accounting firms and investment banks during mergers and acquisitions activities.

Before joining CBRE, Mr. Cherry was a Vice President with Cushman Realty Corporation, joining Cushman & Wakefield (“C&W”) as part of the merger in 2001. Mr. Cherry served as an executive member of C&W’s Global Supply Chain Group and as a Director in the firm’s West Los Angeles office.  He began his career in 1988 and has since completed more than 35,000,000 square feet of assignments in 37 states and 12 countries. ​​​​​

Major Transactions

  • Raytheon Company - Responsible for providing a strategic realignment plan for their owned and leased facilities throughout Southern California, representing approximately 7,000,000 square feet of space.
  • P & O Nedlloyd - In 2002, completed two assignments totaling 1,200,000 square feet of state-of-the-art distribution buildings, for one of the larges shipping companies in the world.  These transactions, combined, amounted to the third largest industrial lease in Southern California that year.  In 2004, he completed two further assignments on their behalf, totaling 743,000 square feet.
  • Mattel, Inc. - Recently completed their distribution center lease in San Diego, California and office leases in Budapest, Chicago, Helsinki, London, Melan and Prague.  Disposed of their 50,000 square foot call center in Eau Claire, Wisconsin and their 250,000 square foot manufacturing/R&D facility in Oleggio, Italy.
  • Solo Cup Company - 1,590,000 square feet of assignments throughout Southern California, the most recent being the lease of a state-of-the-art distribution center, comprising 883,000 square feet and the sublease of 395,000 square feet, both in 2005.
