Professional Background

Mr. Smith joined CBRE|Richmond in 2015. He is currently responsible for overseeing and coordinating tenant and capital improvement projects in the Richmond office for the State Corporation Commission.  He is also responsible for facilities management including repairs and maintenance of critical systems.   

Prior to joining CBRE|Richmond, Mr. Smith was a Project Manager with M.L. Bell Construction.  While there, he was responsible for purchasing, scheduling, and administration of construction projects in retail, industrial, and office buildings throughout the Mid-Atlantic.  Mr. Smith worked with Superintendents and Vendors to complete projects on-time and under budget.

Mr. Smith has held increasingly responsible positions in the construction industry since graduating from Virginia Tech with a degree in Building Construction in 2005.  He has worked as a Superintendent, Project Engineer, and Estimator.  He has specialized training in energy efficiency and building performance. 

Significant Accomplishments

  • Developed a quality control and documenting program for the installation of over 700 windows and doors at a mixed use project
  • Supervised the design, permitting, and first phase installation on (2) 3,000,000 BTU boilers serving over 300,000 SF of office space in Downtown Richmond.
  • Successful management of tenant improvement projects in Virginia, Maryland, and D.C. where projects were completed early and at or below budget while maintaining quality and safety.
