Professional Experience

Ed Thenell is a senior real estate executive with a diverse real estate background and successful track record of leadership. As a strategic-level executive, Ed partners with his clients to provide thought leadership and leads alliance directors to deliver superior outcomes within their own accounts. He guides his leadership team toward a sound perspective on team performance, financial accountability, and client satisfaction. Ed’s ability to lead large, global teams and his thorough knowledge of account management, business process planning, cost management, and program evaluation results in successful highly functioning teams. 

Currently, Ed is the Divisional Director for the Pacific Northwest region of GWS. In this role, Ed is responsible for overseeing a wide range of accounts including Evergreen, Nike, Expedia, Starbucks, Microsoft, OHSU, MultiCare, and Cambia Health Solutions. The alliance directors leading each of these accounts rely on Ed’s ability to steer them toward success in all areas of corporate real estate service – project management, transaction management, facilities management, lease administration, technology, and finance among others. 

Ed has over 30 years of experience in real estate, and has been with CBRE for 17 years. He is currently based in Seattle. 

Previous Experience

Previously, Ed was the Global Alliance Director for the CBRE Microsoft Integrator account, where he led a 250+ person team and was responsible for managing all service providers delivering integrated portfolio planning, project management, transaction management, facility management, global finance, and lease administration services to Microsoft. Ed was responsible for all aspects of the strategic real estate relationship with the client and drove team integration with the CBRE platform and best practices. 

Ed also served as Alliance Director of CBRE’s Microsoft IFM account. In this role, Ed managed CBRE’s 650+ person Integrated Facilities Management team at Microsoft in the Puget Sound and North Americas regions.
