Andrew Poncher co-leads a Washington DC based Retail Real Estate team focused on representation of best-in-class urban retail Landlords and Tenants. Andrew’s current landlord clients include the following top tier local and national development organizations: Related Companies, Grosvenor, Skanska, Jair Lynch, PN Hoffman, Quadrangle/Wilkes and many more.

Andrew and his team use their extensive consulting expertise to advise Washington DC’s top mixed-use landlords and developers in their efforts to reposition major urban assets. A core strength of the team is locating, evaluating, and leasing to best in class amenity retail in the food, fashion and lifestyle sectors to help create a sense of place for the building and to energize the surrounding neighborhood. Furthermore, Andrew is often sought by investment sales professionals to consult on urban core mixed use projects that have a large retail component. Andrew is engaged both by CBRE and outside firms, helping to utilize his expertise in retail leasing, merchandising, and underwriting.

Andrew and his team are currently at the forefront of strategic development and are consulting on many of the most notable projects in the Washington DC Area. The Meridian Group hired the team to create the strategy and run the retail leasing for 90,000 SF of retail at Anthem Row, a Trophy mixed use office and retail project in the East End of DC that’s adjacent to the new flagship Apple store at the Carnegie Library Building. Recent deals at Anthem Row include an iconic 35,000 SF Equinox Gym and a 10,000 SF flagship Truluck’s Seafood Steak and Crab House.

Andrew’s leasing success in recently includes more than 750,000 SF of retail in the Washington DC neighborhoods of 14th street, Shaw, Penn Quarter, and Capitol Riverfront. These deals have been instrumental in creating some of the most dynamic destinations for dining and retail in the city today. The new tenants he helped bring include West Elm, The Smith NYC, Barcelona Wine Bar, All Purpose, Equinox Gym, Right Proper Brew Pub, The Dabney (James Beard Winner), Tiger Fork, HipCityVeg, Dacha Beer Garden, Madewell, and many more.

Andrew has a passion for seeking out new retailers from across the United States and beyond. As a result, he’s often exploring new markets for exciting ideas to best help transform projects and neighborhoods where he is involved. He consistently leverages his tightly knit national and international network of urban retail real estate professionals finding engaging retailers that are actively expanding across the US, or possibly the world.

Andrew’s tenant representation clients include best in class favorites The Smith NYC, representing them on their Washington DC deals, including Penn Quarter and U Street flagship locations recently opened. Andrew also represents Bottleneck Management (City Works), Boqueria (NYC), Madison Reed Color Bar (SF, NYC), Slipstream, Empellon (NYC), and Baked and Wired. Andrew works with a number of additional top independent restaurant and retail groups consulting on their expansion strategy for DC and other major metro markets across the country. Andrew’s clients highly value his thoughtful strategic, analytical, and market data driven approach to their success.

Andrew is an active ULI Mentor, guiding seven ULI young leaders hailing from a variety of Washington DC’s best Commercial Real Estate companies. He is helping build a culture of leadership, big picture perspective, and assisting in setting goals for their respective futures in the commercial real estate industry and beyond.

Andrew earned a bachelor’s degree in International Business and Economics from the European Business School of London.
